Corneliu-Mircea DAVIDESCU

Born : October 23, 1952 in Timișoara, Romania.
Academic positions : Full Professor in Physical Chemistry since 2002 at Politehnica University Timisoara, Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environment Engineering ; PhD Advisor since 2004 in Chemical Engineering ; supervisor of doctoral and postdoctoral students.
Administrative academic positions : Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environment Engineering Timisoara, 1996-2000 ; Vice-Rector of Politehnica University Timișoara, 2000-2017.
Other positions : corresponding member of the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences (since 2006), President of the Romanian Society of Chemistry, Timișoara Branch (2005-2015), Member of the National Council for Attestation of Academic Titles, Diplomas and Certificates : Chemical Engineering and Material Sciences Panel (2008-2012) ; Member of the National Council for the Financing of Higher Education (2011-2015) ; Expert and Scientific Referee in Physical Chemistry of more Scientific Bodies or Journals.
Recent research fields : preparation, characterisation and applications of new polymers functionalised by polymer-analogous reactions : polymers with antibaterial activity ; polymer supports for grafting homogeneous catalysts, enzymes, phase transfer catalysts, biomimetic catalysts ; polymer adsorbents used in environment protection (metals and heavy metals recovery, removal of organic pollutants from waste waters).
Some results obtained in scientific and academic activity : 9 books/academic textbooks published, more than 150 research papers published in scientific journals indexed in international databases (more than 75 papers published in international journals indexed in Web of Science) or proceedings of international conferences, over 40 research grants/contracts finalized.
